2014: One of two on the team to play inall 57 games...batted .289 in 211 at-bats...second on the team with 26 runs and third on the team with 30 RBI...finished with 10 doubles, one triple and two home runs...first-career home run came March 6 at home against Pacific...16 multiple-hit games...his 12-game hit streak (3/30-4/19) was the longest on the team...career-high three runs in a win over UC Santa Barbara (2/22).
2013: Played in 39 games and made 25 starts as a first baseman, designated hitter and left fielder...led the team in appearances as a sub with 14...hit .250 in 100 at bats with 14 runs and 10 RBI...walked 19 times and had a .375 on-base percentage...six multi-hit games...recorded 66 putouts, three assists and did not make an error all season...matched a career high with four hits in a victory over Santa Clara (3/9)...9-for-18 (.500) during four-game stretch versus Santa Clara and Cal Poly (3/8-12)...2-for-5 with two RBI in a win over UTSA (3/29).
2012: Appeared in 45 games with 33 starts, all at first base...Led the team with a .322 batting average and .464 on-base percentage, was second with nine doubles and 23 walks, and fourth on the squad with 18 RBIs...Batted .421 with runners in scoring position and .636 (7-for-11) with a runner on third and less than two outs...Hit safely in 20 of 25 games from March 28-May 15, batting .390 and slugging .488 with eight doubles, 15 RBIs, 15 runs scored and 13 walks...Season-long hitting streak of eight games (second longest on the team) came from April 14-24, where he hit .590 (16-for-31) with five multi-hit performances and drove in seven runs, scored six times and hit two doubles...Career day came at Fresno State on April 15 as he went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and a run scored in leading the Spartans to an 11-2 win over the Bulldogs and their first sweep at Fresno in 12 years...Had nine multi-hit games during the season...Committed just one error in 251 chances for a .996 fielding percentage.
2011: Played in 12 games with three starts in the outfield...Made his collegiate debut on Feb. 23 versus Albany as a pinch hitter...Recorded his first collegiate RBI and reached base for the first time as a Spartan with a walk at Pacific on March 8...Best performance came against San Francisco on April 12, getting his first collegiate hit and setting a career high in at-bats with five as he went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base against the Dons...Did not record an error in five total chances.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2010 graduate of St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco, Calif....A two-year letterwinner (Coach Matt Stecher)...Honored as a first-team All-West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) his senior year when he batted .446 with seven doubles, three homers and knocked in 22...As a junior was selected a second-team All-WCAL performer and led the league with 29 RBI and third in home runs (5)...A two-year letterwinner in football.
MATT: A communication studies major...Played club baseball for the Bay Area Warriors (Coach Noah Jackson)...Enjoys fishing, Karaoke and playingMonopoly...also played two years of basketball while at Saint Ignatius...Matt Lopez, nicknamed 'Lopey', is a native of San Francisco, Calif., and was born on August 9, 1991.
