2017: Played in 33 games on the field, starting 26 games as the designated hitter, seven games as the pinch hitter... Appeared five times as a pitcher, starting in all... In three of the five games he started on the bump, he was also the starting designated hitter... Hit a game tying solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning against Nevada (3/19)... Tied a career-high three RBI in the game versus New Mexico (3/11)... Had nine multi hit games... Career-high eight strikeouts in the start against UNLV (3/3).
2016: Appeared 15 times as a pitcher, starting in 14 games… Played in 41 games on the field, starting 5 games at first base, 9 at left field, 13 at right field and 14 as the designated hitter… Primarily batted fifth in the order… Led the team in ERA (4.79), innings pitched (88.1), games started (14) and complete games (2)… Posted a 0-6 record with a save while striking out 45 and allowing only 20 walks in 88.1 innings… Pitched at least 6.0 innings in 10 of his 14 starts… Struck out a season-high five batters against Loyola Marymount (2/26) and UNLV (3/4)… Hit .246 in 138 at-bats… Tied for second on the team in triples (2)… Third on the team in walks with 18… Collected a season-high four hits against UNLV (4/30)… Drove in a season-high three runs on a bases clearing triple in a win against Saint Mary’s (5/10)… Hit his first career home run, a solo shot, against Long Beach State (5/15).
2015: One of four Spartans to see time in the field and on the mound…Appeared 16 times as a pitcher, starting the last six…Also played in 15 games and made seven starts at third base…Posted a 3-5 record with a 7.04 ERA in 53.2 innings on the bump…His three wins were good for second on the team…Struck out 39 and walked 21…Hit .172 at the dish in 29 at-bats…Collected five hits, including a double…Stole a base in his only attempt… First career hit was a double against Northern Colorado (2/21)… Tossed 4.0 innings of one-run ball in relief at SDSU (2/28)… Went a career-high 5.1 innings in relief at UC Irvine (3/15)… Worked 1.2 scoreless innings at Oregon State (3/24)… The winning pitcher against Nevada after tossing 4.2 scoreless innings of relief (3/27)… Pitched into the ninth inning in a start at Washington State with just one run allowed (4/17).
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Leland High School in San Jose, Calif. …A three-time letterwinner for head coach Mike Sparrer…Teammate of fellow Spartan Brendt Citta…Led the Chargers to a 23-8 record en route to the 2014 CCS Open Division title…As a junior in 2013, hit .358 with five doubles, a triple, two home runs and 16 RBIs…Also threw 23.2 innings, posting a 2-1 record with a 1.18 ERA and three saves in seven appearances…Enjoyed a stellar senior campaign in which he hit .471 with 25 runs scored, 14 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 28 RBIs…Was equally dominant on the mound, posting a 2-0 record and 0.44 ERA with three saves and 19 strikeouts in 16 innings of work…Collected BVAL Mount-Hamilton Division MVP, Cal-Hi Sports First Team All-State, MaxPreps First Team All-State and San Jose Mercury News Player of the Year honors.
