Eric Deovlet was named the Director of Operations for the San José State University baseball program in September 2016.
Deovlet comes to San José State from Chapman University where he served as an assistant coach for the Panthers from 2011 to 2016. Deovlet served as the hitting instructor and coached at first and third base at Chapman. He also coached at Chapman from 2002 through 2004. He helped guide the offense to a .323 batting average and the 2003 NCAA Division III championship.
Between his stints at Chapman University, Deovlet was the associate head coach/recruiting coordinator at Lewis and Clark College from 2005 to 2010. He was promoted to interim head coach for the 2010 season.
At Lewis and Clark, he coordinated the recruitment of student-athletes with emphasis in the southern California region. He also directed and organized all daily operations including the management of assistant staff members, budget, scheduling and academic advising of student-athletes.
Deovlet also held assistant coaching responsibilities with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League in the summer of 2006. He mentored future Major League Baseball players Buster Posey, David Robertson, Michael Taylor and Josh Fields.
The 1999 San Diego State University graduate started his coaching career as a hitting instructor and defensive coordinator for outfielders at Villa Park High in Villa Park, California.
Deovlet received his bachelor’s degree in social science from San Diego State in 1999, before obtaining a M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix in 2008.
