Spencer Long Season 2021

AT SJSU: Completed his second season with the Spartans in 2021. 

2021: Made four starts in four appearances ... Led the Spartans in wins ... Finished with a 6.26 ERA and 2-2 record in 23 innings of work ... Held opponent batters to a .346 clip ... Tallied a career high five strikeouts in first outing of the season against San Diego State (3/27) and again at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha against Creighton (4/18) ... Finished season with 13 strikeouts ... Didn't allow a run in win at Cal Poly (4/2). 

2020: Made four starts while touting a 4.79 ERA in 20.2 innings ... Struck out 18 against just five walks ... Recorded at least four strikeouts in each outing ... Started season opener against Santa Clara (2/14) ... Season was canceled after 17 games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

EL CAMINO COLLEGE: Recorded 11 saves in 34.1 innings of work and 16 appearances last season ... Posted a 2.10 ERA and averaged 10.49 strikeouts per nine innings ... In two seasons, he made 28 appearances with 12 saves and was 6-6 on the bump with a 3.00 ERA ... Tallied 90 strikeouts to 27 walks for his career ... Also excelled as a hitter ... In 2018, he batted .261 with 25 runs, 22 RBI and two home runs ... In 2019, he secured 49 hits, 35 RBI and three home runs, including a walk-off homer in the super regional to send his team to the sectionals ... Named a first team All-SCC pick in 2018 and second team in 2019, both as a pitcher. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Played four seasons of high school ball at El Segunda High ... Was named the Ocean League Most Outstanding Player as a senior in 2017 ... Was awarded the Scott McGregor Pitcher of the Year Award in 2016-17 ... Also earned a spot on the all-league first team as a senior. 

GET TO KNOW SPENCER: Majoring in sociology ... Parents are Kip and Tammy Long ... Has three sisters - Scarlett, Sophia and Savannah ... Enjoys playing basketball, spending time with friends and watching new movies in his free time.
