Gary Uribe joined the San Jose State University athletics staff in February 2013 as the department's Head Athletic Performance Coach.
Uribe has 18 years working with NCAA Division I student-athletes and athletics programs. His experiences include working in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the Pac-12, the Mountain West, the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and the Big Sky.
The 1996 graduate of University of LaVerne majored in health services management. He earned a master's degree in physical education from Azusa Pacific University in 2005.
Uribe began his professional career in 2002 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Southern California. In his four years with the Trojans and in his role working with the football team, USC participated in two Rose Bowls and two Orange Bowls and were the 2003 and 2004 national champions.
He was named the Director of Speed, Strength and Conditioning at Sacramento State in 2006 and with a staff of four was responsible for 20 intercollegiate teams. The Hornets won eight conference championships in five different sports in his three years.
Uribe spent two years at New Mexico State University as the Football Speed, Strength and Conditioning Coach, a year at UCLA as an Assistant Athletic Performance Coach and one year at Auburn as an Assistant Football Strength and Conditioning Coach. While at Auburn, he also served as the football team's Director of Nutrition.
He is certified as a USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach Level 1 and is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Gary and his wife, Christie, have two sons, Jake and Caleb.
