Angelica was born and raised in Vallejo, California. She attended Jesse M. Bethel High School, where she was appointed the Bio-Medical Academy Secretary in the 2016-2017 academic year. She was on the Superintendent’s honor roll throughout her four years in high school, maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She was a member of her high school’s Student Council and Youth Leadership team. She participated in the program “Every 15 Minutes" which informs high school students on the dangers and risk of DUI’s. Maligat also enjoyed volunteering at her local Salvation Army. Maligat was a former gymnast at North Bay Athletics Association (NBAA) and competed nation-wide. She qualified for USAG State and Regional Championships from 2012-2017. She also became an instructional coach, team coach and the Assistant Dance and Floor routine choreographer at NBAA in 2015. In 2017, one of her former students ranked in America’s top 100 Gymnasts on the Floor Exercise, while another placed 1st at the California State and Region 1 Championships on the Floor Exercise. Maligat is majoring in Forensic Sciences, with a concentration in Biology, and plans to become a Forensic Nurse. She aspires to bring positivity to the SJSU Community and plans to use her Cheerleading career as a platform to promote student unity, pride and respect for one another.
