2021 WCGA Scholastic All-American
2021: Competed on beam in all five meets and on bars in four meets…season-best 9.825 on beam in final meet at Air Force…added a 9.775 in earlier meet at Air Force…season—high 9.775 on bars in home meet against Stanford…recorded a 9.750 on bars and 9.675 on beam in her return to UCLA.
UCLA: Four-year member of the Bruin team (2017-20) including the 2018 national championship team…graduated in Spring 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology…added depth to the bars and beam lineups.
CLUB: Trained and competed for Matrix Gymnastics with her coach and step-dad Chris Clark…won the all-around, bars, beam and floor at the 2015 Copa Quetzal Level 10 competition in Guatamala…reuniting with club teammate Alexa Solomon…Level 10 Region 1 qualifier in 2015 and 2016.
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Agoura Hills High School in 2016.
PERSONAL: Pursuing a master’s degree in kinesiology with a sports studies concentration…would like to work in sports psychology after graduation…four-time WCGA Scholastic All-American at UCLA…has a “Liam Strong” tattoo on her right arm…Mercedez Marie Sanchez was born in Sherman Oaks, Calif.
