Krystal Lopez joined the San José State volleyball staff in April of 2020 as the director of operations.
Lopez spent the two years (2018-19) working alongside Kersten on the coaching staff at Texas Christian University as a graduate assistant. She worked with the team’s director of operations on creating travel itineraries, rooming lists and meal planning. Lopez served as an assistant in coordinating and planning logistical needs throughout the 2019 NIVC postseason.
“We are thrilled to welcome Krystal to our staff as our Director of Volleyball Operations. She is hardworking and incredibly knowledgeable. Krystal will have a positive impact on the student-athletes that we get to serve here at San José State,” said Kersten. “I want to thank Marie Tuite and David Rasmussen for their continued investment in Spartan Volleyball to allow us to bring Krystal into our program.”
Lopez played one season at St. Gregory’s University and two years prior at Midland College in Midland, Texas. She served as a camp coach at various camps affiliated with Midland, TCU and the University of Texas.
Off the court, Lopez spend two summers as a marketing intern for Border Therapy Services in El Paso, Texas. She developed an effective marketing strategy for the services they provide.
Lopez is graduating this month with a master’s degree of liberal arts from TCU. She received her bachelor’s degree in health and human performance from Oklahoma Baptist University and her associate of science degree from Midland College.
