Garrett Wolfe joins San José State as Assistant Athletics Director for Football Operations in February of 2024. He comes from Stanford where he was the Director of Football Operations since January 2023.
Prior to Stanford, Wolfe spent four seasons as Director of Football Operations and Assistant Athletic Director for Football Administration at Sacramento State.
- Serves as a representative on the National Director of Football Operations Committee.
- Wolfe spent four previous seasons at Stanford (2015-18) and finished his tenure as the Assistant Director of Recruiting Operations.
- Wolfe was critical at Stanford in revamping the football program’s academic & athletic evaluation protocols leading to three national top-20 recruiting classes in that time.
- During his first stint at Stanford, the Cardinal captured the 2015 Pac-12 and Rose Bowl Game Championships, two Sun Bowl Championships (2016, 2018), a Pac-12 North Division title (2017) and a trip to the Alamo Bowl (2017).
- At Sacramento State (2019-22), Wolfe played a pivotal off-the-field role with the team where his numerous tasks included budgeting, travel planning, alumni relations, fundraising, and managing football’s support stuff.
- One of his major initiatives with the program was to reconnect the alumni to the new staff and players.
- Wolfe, with the help of some key alumni, helped reestablish The Huddle to centralize alumni outreach and fundraising support and created an honorary captain program which allowed an alum to speak to the team the night before each game and take part in all gameday activities.
- Wolfe also helped advance the technology used by the staff and players.
- He implemented the use of Teamworks for scheduling and communication, helped onboard players with INFLCR for social media outreach, made the team the first FCS program to sign with Pro Football Focus and worked closely with Kissick Family Director of Sports Performance Ryan Deatrick (formerly Assistant A.D./Sports Performance at Sacramento State) to sign a deal with Catapult to help track on field performance metrics.
- Behind the scenes, Wolfe helped increase revenue through the team’s Rising Stars Mega Camp which brings thousands of high school players to campus during the summer. He also worked closely with the Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration department to create two graduate assistant football coach positions.
- Prior to working at Stanford the first time, Wolfe served as the Director of Football Operations at Portland State in 2014.
- While with the Vikings, Wolfe was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program, including team travel, NFL liaison, football camps and clinics management, recruiting, and assisting the coaches with administration of the program.
- Wolfe began his career in football with a pair of jobs in Sacramento. He worked as the Video Coordinator for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League and was also the Assistant Director of Football Operations at Sacramento State from 2011-13.
- He also worked for ACS Athletics as their football liaison on the customer success team. ACS provided database support for athletics programs in compliance, recruiting, and team management.
PERSONAL
- A native of Folsom, California, Wolfe earned a degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in sports management from The University of Texas in 2010. He followed that with an internship with Octagon Football, a full-service NFL Agency.
- He is married to Dallas Wolfe.
