San José State record: 5-3, 4-1 Mountain West. The Spartans have a four-game winning streak after defeating UNLV, 34-24, on November 2. San José State began its streak with back-to-back comeback road wins at Hawai'i, 37-27, on October 5, and a 34-27 triumph at Colorado State on October 12 and added a 51-44 Homecoming victory over Wyoming.

San Diego State record: 4-4, 3-1 Mountain West. The Aztecs made it four of their last five with a 35-30 win over New Mexico on November 2.

San José State-San Diego State series: The Spartans lead the series, 18-15-2. San José State has wins in the last three meetings between these teams including a 38-34 victory in San Diego on September 21, 2012. San José State's win ended a nine-game, 60-year winless drought in the city of San Diego.
San Diego State's last win in the series was a 52-21 victory at Qualcomm Stadium on September 24, 2005.
The last time San José State had four or more wins in its series with San Diego State was an 11-game winning streak over 15 seasons covering 1938 through 1952.

Play-by-Play Radio Coverage: KLIV (1590 AM, San José) originates San José State football broadcasts. Justin Allegri is the play-by-play voice. Kevin Richardson offers commentary. The network affiliate is KION (1460 AM/101.1 FM, Salinas). The San Diego State broadcast begins at 7:00 p.m. (PST).

KSJS (90.5 FM, San José) also will broadcast the San Diego State game. Air time is 7:15 p.m. (PST).

Television: The San José State-San Diego State game will be televised nationally by the CBS Sports Network. Andrew Catalon calls the play-by-play. Adam Archuleta provides commentary. Lauren Gardner works from the sidelines. The live telecast begins at 7:30 p.m.

Ron Caragher & Rocky Long take opposite sides again: Ron Caragherand Rocky Long will be opposite sides of the field for the second time as coaches when San José State hosts San Diego State. In 1994, Caragher was in his first year as a graduate assistant at UCLA and Long was the defensive coordinator at Oregon State whose team emerged with a 23-14 victory. The two head coaches were on the Bob Toledo-led Bruin staffs of 1996 and 1997. UCLA was the Pac-10 co-champion in 1997 and went to play in the Cotton Bowl. Long was the defensive coordinator and Caragher was the wide receivers coach.

Four wins in a row: San José State heads into the San Diego State came with a season-long four-game winning streak. In 2012, the Spartans won their last eight games to finish with an 11-2 win-loss record. The last time San José State had back-to-back seasons with winning streaks of four or more games was in 1990 (6) and 1991 (4).

1-3 to 5-3 in house: The 2013 San José State football team is the school's first to start a season with a 1-3 win-loss record and win three in a row to climb above .500 for a 5-3 mark. The 1984 Spartans are the first team at the University to be 1-3 and finish a season above the .500 mark with a 6-5 record (.545).

1-3 to 5-3 nationally: Twenty-two (22) Football Bowl Subdivision teams had a 1-3 win-loss record this season. Only three rebounded to currently show four or more wins. The San José State-San Diego State game matches two of these three teams which coincidentally are all from the Mountain West Conference.

Need another one against the run: For the second time in 2013, San José State's defense yielded a season-low 86 rushing yards in the UNLV win. Tim Cornett, UNLV's career leading rusher, had a season-low 24 yards on 12 carries. In last year's game at San Diego State, the Aztecs gained more rushing yards, 271 on 55 carries than any opponent San José State faced. Adam Muema led the San Diego State charge with 202 yards and an 83-yard touchdown run on 25 carries.

Ground game productive: San José State's average rushing yards a game is at a season-high 148.8 yards per game after gaining 312 yards and producing two touchdowns in the UNLV win. The 312 rushing yards are the most by the Spartans in a game since the 476 yards in the 2006 Louisiana Tech win.

In the last four games, San José State is averaging 216.5 rushing yards per game compared to 81.25 yards per game the first four games of the season.

The San José State freshmen trio of running backs: San José State's Tim Crawley, Jarrod Lawson and Thomas Tuckerare the most productive freshman threesome of running backs in school history. This trio has two of the three best single-game rushing totals by three Spartan freshmen.

Highest scoring 1st quarter in 2013: San José State's 14 first-quarter points in the UNLV win are a season high and represent 38.9 percent of the points in the first 15 minutes of a game this season.

A first in 38 years: For the first time since the November 8, 1975 win over New Mexico, a San José State tight end threw a pass. In the UNLV win, tight end Billy Freeman took a handoff from quarterback David Fales and threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Nunnin the first quarter.

Previous to Freeman, Dan Prager was the last San José State tight end to throw a pass and his pass was complete for 23 yards to running back Steve Bruce. Since 1950, only three San José State tight ends are credited with a pass attempt. Freeman is the only one to complete a pass for a touchdown.
