San José, Calif. --- The San Jose State University women's tennis team won four singles matches and two doubles competition on the second day of the San José State Invitational.
In singles, Gaelle Rey, Sabastiani Leon Chao Julianna Bacelar, and Justine Deleval each won their singles matches against Santa Clara. Rey won the first match for the Spartans after defeating Daniella Silva of Santa Clara in three sets, 6-2; 4-6; 6-3. Leon Chao also finished in three sets, defeating Santa Clara's Chelby Cook 6-2; 4-6; 6-3.
Bacelar finished third for the Spartans, topping Stephanie Skaras, 6-2; 6-1 and Justine Deleval secured the final singles win after defeating Elaine Chesoni, 6-0; 6-3.
In doubles, Rey and Leon Chao teamed up to win the fifth match of the night, defeating the University of San Francisco's duo of Andrea Ka and Marina Nikolic, 8-6. Bacelar defeated USF's doubles team of Brooke Irish and MilHadzi-Tanovic, 8-6.
"We had a very good day overall in singles and doubles," said head coach Sylvain Malroux. " We really like to see our fighting spirit coming through at the end of Sabi and Gaelle's singles. Our doubles keep playing well as well."
