San Diego, Calif. --- The San José State women's swimming team concluded the weekend's competition with a dual meet sweep over UC San Diego and Incarnate Word. The Spartans (4-2) defeated UC San Diego 140.5-115.5 and topped Incarnate World 180-70.
Riley Spitser and Darcie Anderson had two first place finishes each.
In the second even of the day, Spitser placed first in the 10000 Free with a time of 10:24.08. She later won the 500 free in 5:05.30. Anderson placed first in the 100 breast and 200 breast in 1:05.40 and 2:21.54, respectively. Anderson also teamed up with Michaela McLean, Taylor Curado, and Alysha Bush to win the 400 medley relay in 3:50.10.
"We had a tremendous team performance today," said head coach Sage Hopkins. "UCSD is a great program and we knew we would be challenged. The team really rallied and we had our best meet today out of three on our road trip. This has been a great start to back half of the season."
Other first place finishers were Amber Nelson, Michaela McLean, Erika Harvey, Alysha Bush, and Haley Smith.
The Spartans head back to their home pool on Saturday, January 18, as they compete against Cal State East Bay. The meet begins at 12:00 p.m. (PT) at the Aquatics Center on San José State's campus.
