Five San Jose State Women's Swimmers Named All-Mountain West

Feb. 25, 2014

Colorado Springs, Colo.----- Five San José State University women's swimmers that finished in the top-eight at the recently completed Mountain West Conference Championships in San Antonio, Texas were named to the all-conference team for the 2013-14 season.

Four seniors, Ashlyn Acosta, Darcie Anderson, Taylor Curado and Erika Harvey, and sophomore Riley Spitser earned All-Mountain West honors.

Acosta and Anderson were two-time honorees. Acosta was honored for her third place finish in the 100 butterfly and sixth place in the 200 butterfly. For Acosta (Trabuco Canyon, Calif./Mission Viejo HS), the school record holder in both butterfly events, she earned her 10th and 11th career all-conference honors. In her first three seasons with the Spartans, she was a 2012 first-team All-WAC and two-time second-team All-WAC swimmer in the 100 fly and earned two All-WAC honors in the 200 fly.

The Spartans' top breaststroker, Anderson (Willows, Calif./Orland HS) picked up her Mountain West honors in the 100 breast with a fourth place finish and in the 200 breast touching fifth in the championship final. She finished her college career as a 12-time all-conference award winner and earned conference honors in each of her specialties every season.

Curado (Highland Ranch, Colo.) also was a second Spartan to earn All-Mountain West honors in the 100 fly. For Curado, a transfer from Rutgers University, it was her first major college all-conference swimming recognition.

Harvey (Palo Cedro, Calif./Foothill HS) notched an all-conference honor in the 50 free for the second year in a row finishing eighth. Like Acosta, she completed her San José State career with 11 all-conference awards.

Spitser (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo HS) set school records in the 200, 500, 1,000 and 1,650 freestyle races at the Mountain West Championships. Her seventh-place finish in the 200 free was good enough for her first all-conference honor swimming for San José State.
