Kaspar & Meyer Named To National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society

Irving, Texas ----- San Jose State University's Nicholas Kaspar and Jon Meyerare two of 838 players nationally from all levels of college football to be named to the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society.

Kaspar and Meyer completed their senior seasons with the 2013 Spartans as starters in the offensive line. Kaspar, from Dana Point, Calif., started 46 games in four seasons and was a two-time all-conference honoree. Meyer, a junior college transfer from Foothill College, started all 25 games for San Jose State in 2012 and 2013.

The Hampshire Honor Society's membership qualifications include being a starter or significant contributor in one's last year of eligibility, maintaining at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and "meeting all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements."

Kaspar graduated in December 2013 majoring in justice studies. He earned four all-conference academic honors as a player.

Meyer is finishing his first year in graduate school pursuing his M.B.A. He received two all-conference academic honors while playing for the Spartans.

"...the Hampshire Honor Society allows us to showcase the names of tomorrow's leaders while inspiring future generations to follow in their footsteps," says National Football Foundation chairman Archie Manning.

Kaspar and Meyer become the second and third San Jose State football players to be recognized as Hampshire Honor Society honorees in the eight-year history of this scholar-athlete awards program. In 2013, defensive end Travis Johnson was named to the Hampshire Honor Society.
