Ron Caragher Radio Show:  The weekly one-hour Ron Caragher Radio Show airs on KLIV (1590 AM, San José), Wednesdays, at 8:00 p.m. The 60-minute show is taped Wednesday, 5:00 p.m., at Willow Street Pizza in San José's Willow Glen district.
Ron Caragher on KRTY FM:  San José State head coach Ron Caragher also is heard weekly on KRTY (95.3, San Jose), Tuesdays at 6:30 a.m. Morning show hosts Gary Scott Thomas and Julie Stevens host the Spartans' coach.
Aiming for 2-0: The last time a San José State team started a season 2-0 was in 1987 when the Spartans finished with a 10-2 record. Twelve times in this 26-year span, San José State played at least one top-25 nationally-ranked team in its first two games.
The nationally-ranked opponent: San José State faces an Auburn team with an opportunity to post back-to-back wins over nationally-ranked opponents for the first time in University history. The Spartans closed last season toppling undefeated Fresno State, 62-52, #16-ranked by the Associated Press.
See the USA: The Auburn game marks the first of seven San José State road contests. By the end of the season, the Spartans will play at least one road game in the four continental time zones.

BYU, Boise State, New Mexico State also are playing road games in the four continental U.S. time zones. Utah State and Wyoming have road contests in four different time zones with a road game at Hawai'i.
Another Iron Bowl triangle: San José State is the third program in the last five years to play non-conference football games with Alabama and Auburn. Florida Atlantic lost to Auburn, 30-14, in 2011 and 2013 and was defeated by the Tigers, 45-10, in 2013. Florida Atlantic lost to Alabama, 40-7, in 2012. Chattanooga lost at Auburn, 62-24, in 2010, and at Alabama, 49-0, in 2013. San José State lost at #1-Alabama, 48-3, to open the 2010 season. Linebacker Vince Buhagiar started in the Alabama game as a first-time freshman and led the Spartans with nine tackles. Defensive end Cedric Lousi, a first-time freshman like Buhagiar, played in the game in a reserve capacity. Lousi was not credited with any tackles.
Spartans continue scoring flurry: In its last three games dating back to last season, San José State scored 156 points. The Spartans opened 2014 with a 42-10 win over North Dakota.
The Navy (52), Fresno State (62) games marked the first time the Spartans scored 50 or more points in consecutive games and the most points scored in back-to-back contests since the end of the 1948 and start of the 1949 seasons.
The most points scored by a San José State team previously in three consecutive games against American-based four-year institutions only were 151 in three 1948 games.
The most points scored by the Spartans in four consecutive games are 190 produced by the 1990 San José State team in the final four games of the season.
San José State sets team passing record in opener: San José State tied its single-game team record for passing accuracy in the North Dakota win completing 23-of-26 passes. Starter Blake Jurich was 22-of-25 and Joe Gray was 1-of-1 for the Spartans. In 2008, San Jose State also completed 23-of-26 passes in a 23-10 loss at Stanford.
Spartans make it 10-2 when rushing for 150: San Jose State opened the 2014 season with 150 yards rushing in the North Dakota win. Since 2011, the Spartans are 10-2 in games in which they gained 150 or more yards rushing. The two losses were to Navy in 2013 and UCLA in 2011.
No sacks allowed in opener: Despite only two players with meaningful playing experience in the offensive line, San Jose State was not forced into a quarterback sack in its win over North Dakota. The Spartans now have two complete games dating back to last season without yielding a quarterback sack.
Tyler Winston sets school mark: Wide receiver Tyler Winston caught 10 passes for 96 yards in two touchdowns in the 42-10 win over North Dakota. Including the 2013 season-ending games against Navy and Fresno State, respectively, Winston became the first San José State player to catch 10 or more passes in three consecutive games. The 2013 Mountain West Freshman of the Year caught 10 passes each against Navy and Fresno State.
Most punt return yardage in a game in a while: San Jose Staté opened the season with a resounding improvement in its punt return aspect of special teams play. In his first game as the Spartans' punt returner, Tyler Ervin returned two punts for 73 yards and a touchdown. In one game, Ervin exceeded San José State's output for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 seasons and was two yards shy of matching the team's 2010 punt return yardage.
