San José State record: 3-3, 2-1 Mountain West. The Spartans have their first winning streak of the season after posting conference victories over UNLV, 33-10, on October 4 and at Wyoming, 27-20 in overtime on October 18.
Navy record: 3-4. The Midshipmen are coming off a bye week following a 51-14 triumph over VMI on October 11.
San José State-Navy series: The Spartans lead the series, 2-1. Navy won last year's game, 58-52 in triple overtime. The Spartans won the first game these teams played in Annapolis, 12-0, on September 29, 2012, on four Austin Lopez field goals.
Navy series veterans: Nine Spartans have an opportunity to play in at least their third football game against Navy as the two teams wrap up a four-season, home-and-home series that began in 2011.
Defensive tackle and co-captain Travis Raciti is the one Spartan to play in the first three games of the series. Raciti and linebacker Vince Buhagiar are the two San Jose State players to start twice against the Midshipmen.
Wide receiver Jabari Carr, who caught the early-fourth quarter, game-winning touchdown in 2011, and safety Simon Connette are the other Spartans to start a game against Navy. Connette was a starter in 2013 and Carr started as a freshman in 2011. Besides Carr and Connette, tight end Sam Tomlitz, safety Akeem King, wide receiver Daniel Bradbury, all-purpose back Tyler Ervin and defensive tackle Foloi Vae played in two of the first three games against Navy.
Aiming for consecutive road wins: San José State has its first chance this season to record back-to-back road victories. In 2013, the Spartans won consecutive road games starting with Hawai'i (10/5), at Colorado State (10/12) and at UNLV (11/2).
Unconventional: San José State now has a 2-5 record in overtime games. Both overtime wins came on the road and involved the Spartans losing the cion toss, being assigned the ball first in the first overtime, scoring and holding off the opposition on downs.
Recent October success: Dating back to the 2012 season, San Jose State has a 7-1 win-loss record in its last eight October games. In the October 25 Navy game, the Spartans are seeking their second consecutive year winning all its October games.

Winning in the Eastern time zone: San Jose State has a modest two-game winning streak in games played in the Eastern time zone. The Spartans capped an 11-2 win-loss record and earned a spot in the final 2012 national polls at #21 with a 29-20 victory over Bowling Green in the Military Bowl played in Washington, D.C. Earlier in the season, the Spartans stopped Navy, 12-0. Prior to those triumphs, the Spartans lost a pair at Florida and one at Ohio State, Virginia, Miami (Fla.), and Louisville.
Ending a spell: The 27-20 overtime win at Wyoming marked the first time since 1993 a San José State squad won on the road following a bye week. The Spartans were 0-11 in road games following a bye before topping Wyoming.
Tyler Winston becomes #26:  Wide receiver Tyler Winston became the 26th San Jose State player to catch at least 100 passes in a career. Presently with 101 career receptions, Winston reached the milestone in his 16th major college football game on the first play in the overtime win at Wyoming. His 101st reception turned out to be the game-winning touchdown in the 27-20 overtime victory.
National leader in passing yards allowed: In games played through October 18, San José State is the national leader in passing yards allowed (94.5). The Spartans are the only Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) team yielding less than 100 passing yards a game. In the last four games, San Jose State opponents combined to pass for 306 yards - an average of 76.5 yards per game.
One pass completion allowed - a 2014 FBS least: In games played through October 18, Minnesota's one pass completion in its win over San José State was the fewest by a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) team this season.
In the Spartans' last four games, opponents completed 40.7 percent of their passes.
