Colorado Springs, Colo.----- Defensive tackle Travis Raciti, cornerback Cleveland Wallace, III and wide receiver Tyler Winston were named 2014 second-team All-Mountain football selections in a vote by the conference's head coaches and selected media members.
In addition, center David Peterson, cornerback Jimmy Pruitt and linebacker Christian Tago were named Mountain West honorable mention choices.
Raciti was one of the most productive defensive linemen in the Mountain West in 2014 with 72 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 quarterback sacks. His 72 tackles and 39 unassisted stops are the most by a conference defensive lineman this season. Third on the team in tackles, Raciiti's season total matched the most by a San Jose State defensive lineman since defensive end Phillip Perry was credited with 72 tackles in a 13-game, 2002 season.
Wallace, III, is the current conference leader with 15 passes defensed. The sophomore cornerback from San Jose ranks tied for 19th nationally averaging 1.25 passes defensed per game.
Winston received a Mountain West honor for the second season in a row. The 2013 Mountain West Freshman of the Year was the Spartans' top pass receiver with 78 catches for 694 yards and five touchdowns. He ranks second in the conference in receptions per game and tied for 19th nationally in the same category at the end of regular-season play.
Peterson, like Raciti, served as a San Jose State team captain for the 2014 season. He started every game at center for the Spartans.
Pruitt led San Jose State with three pass interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He was one of two conference players to rank in the Mountain West's top-10 in fumbles forced and fumbles recovered with two in each category. The junior cornerback was second to Wallace with seven pass break-ups and finished the season with 37 tackles.
Tago was fourth in conference in tackles per game at 9.6 per game. Presently, 24th nationally in tackles, Tago was credited with 10 or more tackles in five of the 10 games he played. The sophomore linebacker finished the season with 96 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss and four pass break-ups.
