Split-Squad Weekend Ahead For Women's Outdoor Track And Field

April 1, 2015

The San José State women's outdoor track and field team has a split-squad weekend ahead on April 3-4 with competition scheduled at the Stanford Invitational and the San Francisco Stat Distance Carnival.

"We are looking forward to competing against some really tough competition from all over the country at the Stanford Invitational," said head coach Jeff Petersmeyer. "Our athletes have qualified for some events that will put us up against some of the best and it will be interesting to see."

The Spartans got personal-best performances from Jade Childs and Makayla Webb in their last competition at the Fresno State Twilight (3/24). Childs will race in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump events, while Webb lines up in the 400-meter hurdles.

The Spartans will also be competing in the 200 and 400-meter dashes and more field events including the high jump and triple jump. For a full list of events, click here.

"The Distance Carnival is one of those pinpoint meets where we will really get after it," said Spartans' distance coach Brad Wick. "We'll look to build some momentum for another big event in the Mt. SAC Relays coming up."

Twenty (20) Spartan athletes will be competing in 18 different events during the two-day span of the Distance Carnival hosted by San Francisco State in Cox Stadium. Click here for Distance Carnival event schedule.
