Childs Goes For Three Season-Bests In Heptathlon Opener

April 15, 2015

Azusa, Calif. --- San José State's Jade Childs began her second heptathlon of the season on Wednesday at the California Invitational Combined in Azusa, Calif.

Childs marked a 186-point improvement from the opening-day score of her season-debut heptathlon at the Northridge Multis.

"Everything was a season best today for Jade except the 100-hurdles which she missed a personal-record by just a tenth of a second," said Spartans' head coach Jeff Petersmeyer. "It was a really good day and we are looking forward to tomorrow."

Childs cleared the bar in the high jump at a season-best 1.67 meters, an improvement upon her 1.62 meter jump back in mid March. She clocked a 26.52 in the 200-meter dash and a 14.11 in the 100-meter hurdles.

Childs' shot put toss traveled 10.52 meters.

With 3,097 points, Childs sits in 17th place with three events left on Thursday: Long jump, javelin throw and the 800 meter run.
