Los Angeles, Calif. --- Making the finals for the first time at the Trojan Diving Invitational, San José State Spartans sophomore Kylie Fonseca placed in the top 15 in the 1-meter springboard on Saturday, November 14, at Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
Fonseca placed 14th in the 1-meter springboard with a score of 428.55 after the final round of competition. In the preliminary round of the invitational, Fonseca was score 219.50 for her first six dives.
"Kylie had a great first list of dives in the prelims today and made necessary adjustments in her dives for the finals," said San José State diving coach Mark Butcher. "I'm proud of her for making the finals at the Trojan Invitational."
Sophomore Cari Reiswig was pulled from competition after the preliminary round of the 3-meter springboard on Friday by Butcher. Reiswig was experiencing back pain.
"I want to make sure Cari is healthy for the end of the season," Butcher said.
Finishing first in the 3-meter on Friday, Maria Polyakova of UCLA collected a first place in the 1-meter with a score of 591.35.
Fonseca will continue on Sunday, competing in the platform dives for the Spartans.
