San José State record: 5-6, 4-3 Mountain West. The Spartans ended a two-game losing streak with a road win at Hawai'i, 42-23, on November 21. The road win was San José State's second of the season - one more than in 2014.
Boise State record: 7-4, 4-3 Mountain West. The Broncos lost their second game in a row by seven points in a 37-30 loss to Mountain West Mountain Division champion Air Force on November 20.

Series history: Boise State leads the series, 11-0. The teams are meeting for the first time since the 2010 season when the Broncos defeated the Spartans, 48-0, in Spartan Stadium. The last 10 games between these teams were Western Athletic Conference contests. Two of the last 10 games were decided by seven points or less and both were San José State home games. In 2006, #13-Boise State won 23-20 on a 37-yard field goal by Anthony Montgomery on the game's final play. In 2004, the two teams played in the earliest known Pacific Time Zone kickoff start to that season, 9:02 a.m. (PT), with Boise State outlasting San José State, 56-49 in double overtime.
Recent regular season finales:  San José State has wins in its final games of the regular season in three of the last four seasons. The Spartans won at Fresno State in 2011, defeated Louisiana Tech, 52-43, at home in 2012, and triumphed over then-unbeaten and #16-ranked Fresno State, 62-52, in 2013. Last year, San José State was a 38-7 loser at San Diego State.
Spartans can finish regular season at .500:  San José State can finish with its second 6-6 win-loss record in the last three seasons with a win over Boise State. The last time the Spartans were 6-6 was in 2013 and San José State concluded that season with a home field win on a Thanksgiving Friday.
A possible second-place conference divisional finish:  San José State can finish as high as second in the Mountain West's West Division following games played on the weekend ending November 28. The Spartans assured themselves of no lower than a third-place division finish with their 42-23 victory at Hawai'i on November 21.
Seeking a first win: Of the many San José State football opponents since 1893, Boise State and Washington are the two foes with 10 or more wins over the Spartans and no losses. The Spartans are 0-11 against Boise State in a series that began in 1978 and 0-10 against Washington in a series that started in 1958.
Senior Day for 18 Spartans: The November 29 game marks the final home game for 19 San José State seniors. Defensive end Cedric Lousi was a Spartan beginning in 2010 and returned to San José State following his church mission. Ten of them started with the Spartans in 2011.
Most rushing touchdowns in a season since 2004: After 11 games, San José State has 23 rushing touchdowns. Until this season, the last time a Spartan team scored 20 or more rushing touchdowns in a season was in 2004 with 22.
Rushing for 2,000 yards:  The 2015 San José State team is the first Spartan squad since 2006 to gain at least 2,000 yards rushing in a season. San José State faces Boise State with 2,043 yards and is averaging 185.7 rushing yards a game this season. Four times this season (New Hampshire, Fresno State, New Mexico and Nevada), San José State rushed for at least 200 yards in a game.
2,000 rushing & 2,000 passing yards:  The 2015 San José State team is the fifth Spartan squad since 1950 and the first since 2006 to rush and pass for at least 2,000 yards in each category.
Potter closes 10-year rushing gap: With his two 9-yard rushing touchdowns in the 42-23 win at Hawai'i, Kenny Potter became the first San José State quarterback in 11 years to rush for six touchdowns in a season. In 2004, Dale Rogers was the most recent Spartan signal caller to score six rushing touchdowns in a season. Since 1950, current St. Louis Rams assistant coach Jeff Garcia in 1992 and Roger Proffitt in 1975, are two San José State quarterbacks to rush for seven touchdowns in a season.
Potter bridges a 30-year rushing chasm: In the Nevada game, Kenny Potter became the first San José State quarterback in 30 years to rush for at least 100 yards in a game. Potter was credited with 116 yards on 19 rushing attempts. Two of his rushes were quarterback sacks.
Spartans taking better care of the ball: The Hawai'i win marked the second game in a row and the third in the last four contests San José State did not commit a turnover. Despite a minus-3 turnover ratio, the last time the team committed a turnover was in the second quarter of the November 6 BYU game on a fourth-down, red-zone fumble.
Team passing completion percentage:  San José State enters the Boise State game with a team passing completion percentage of 68.3 percent - tops in the Mountain West. In the New Hampshire (9/3) and Fresno State (9/26) wins, the Spartans completed 85.7 percent and 86.9 percent of their passes, respectively, and did not throw an interception in either game. San José State quarterback Kenny Potter ranks eighth nationally and first in the Mountain West with a 68.6 percent pass completion rate.
#3-nationally in fewest penalty yards: In games played through November 21, San José State is third in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) for fewest penalty yards (360) and fewest penalty yards per game (32.73). San José State is tied for sixth in fewest penalties (46).
Michael Carrizosa is a Ray Guy Award semifinalist:  Sophomore Michael Carrizosa is one of 10 semifinalists for the 2015 Ray Guy Award given to the top punter in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). Carrizosa is the national leader in punting for the tenth week this season with his current 47.9 yards per punt average - an improvement of 10.8 yards a punt from his 2014 average of 37.1. His punting also is responsible for San José State currently ranking third in net punting at 41.78 yards a punt. In 2014, the Spartans were 125th in net punting at 30.7. Three finalists will be named on November 24. The award winner will be announced on December 10.
Billy Freeman is a John Mackey Award semifinalist: Junior Billy Freeman is one of eight semifinalists for the 2015 John Mackey Award honoring the nation's top tight end. Freeman shares the team lead with 40 receptions and leads the Spartans in receiving yards (472) and touchdown receptions (5). All three are his single-season best marks. Three finalists will be named on November 24. The award winner will be announced on December 9 and presented on December 10.
Outstanding 2015 for Tyler Ervin: Tyler Ervin ranks among the most productive Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players this season. Through November 21, he is second nationally in all-purpose running yards per game (206.7), eighth in rushing yards (1,417) and tenth in rushing yards per game (128.8). Ervin became the San José State career leader in all-purpose yardage in the Nevada game. He now has 5,783 yards entering the Boise State game.
One of college football's busiest players: Tyler Ervin heads into the Boise State game handling the football the second most among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players in 2015 with 318 touches.
