SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- San José State's women's tennis team opened the 2015 Bronco Invitational with a strong performance in singles play Friday afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center.
The Spartans took five-of-six matches from Nevada and four in straight sets, with the only loss being a tightly contested three-set affair. Gaelle Rey, Marine Dans, Miyo Kobayashi, Justine Deleval and Marie Klocker each notched a win on the first day of the final weekend of action this fall.
The doubles portion of the day didn't go as well for the Spartans, who dropped all three matches to their counterparts from Stanford.
Play continues Sunday when San José State entertains host Santa Clara in the 11:30 a.m. doubles slot before resuming singles action against Academy of Art at 1:00 p.m.
