Colorado Springs, Colo.-- Sixty-four (64) San José State University student-athletes from nine Spartan spring sports teams earned 2016 Academic All-Mountain West honors.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better on a 4.00 scale, be enrolled at the conference institution at least one year and participate in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
The women's swimming and diving team had the most award winners for the second consecutive year with 19, followed by baseball at 11 and softball at 10.
Ten (10) San José State student-athletes have earned three Academic All-MW awards since the Spartans joined the conference for the 2013-14 school year - Paris Baird and Rachol West (WBB); Jessie Hufstetler, Chelsea Jenner and Katelyn Linford (SB); Alyssa Cable, Taylor Solorio and Riley Spitser (WSW); and Marie Klocker and Gaelle Rey (WTN).
In February, 46 Spartan student-athletes in the sports of football, volleyball, women's soccer and men's and women's cross country received Academic All-MW honors. Click here for that release.
For the 2015-16 academic year, 135 Spartans earned academic all-conference recognition from the Mountain West, Western Athletic Conference or the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
