Utah Notes

San Jose, Calif. --- San José State led twice in the first half, but a last minute touchdown in the second quarter gave Utah the momentum it needed to hand the Spartans a 34-17 loss at CEFCU Stadium.

The Spartans (1-2) took a 10-6 lead at the 10:30 mark of the second quarter when Josh Oliver caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from Kenny Potter.

The Utes (3-0) answered by scoring less than two minutes later. A four-play 75-yard drive capped off by a 16-yard touchdown rush by Troy McCormick gave Utah the lead for good.

The San José State defense forced two turnovers and sacked Utah quarterback Troy Williams three times. But the Spartans allowed 10 quarterback sacks and turned the ball over three times.
