San José State record: 3-6, 2-3 Mountain West. The Spartans are winners in two of their last three games following a 30-24 victory over UNLV on October 29. Previously, San Jose State defeated Nevada, 14-10, on October 15 and lost at San Diego State, 42-3, on October 21.

Boise State record: 7-1, 3-1 Mountain West. The Broncos lost for the first time this season, 30-28 at Wyoming, on October 29.

Series history: Boise State leads the series, 12-0. The series history between these teams began in 1978 with the Broncos posting a 30-15 victory. Boise State is 6-0 in the games played in Albertsons Stadium and have scored no fewer than 38 points in any of the six wins. The closest outcome on the scoreboard was the 38-21 Bronco victory in Boise on October 15, 2005. This year's game is the seventh time the Spartans are facing a nationally-ranked, top-25 Boise State team. The Broncos were ranked #3 in 2010, #6 in 2009, #13 in 2008 #21 in 2007, #14 in 2006 and #14 in 2004 in the Associated Press poll at the time of the game.

Playing a ranked opponent on November 4: For the second time in San Jose State history, the Spartans are facing a nationally-ranked opponent on November 4 when they take on #24-ranked Boise State. On November 4, 2000, San Jose State defeated unbeaten and #9-ranked TCU featuring LaDainian Tomlimson, 27-24, in CEFCU Stadium.

Last win over a ranked opponent: San Jose State's win over undefeated and nationally-ranked #16-Fresno State, 62-52 on November 29, 2013, is the program's last victory over a nationally-ranked opponent. Since then, the Spartans faced one Associated Press nationally-ranked opponent, #5-ranked Auburn on September 6, 2014 and lost 59-13.

Last road win over a ranked opponent: San Jose State's last victory over an Associated Press nationally-ranked opponent as a visiting team was a 30-22 triumph over #10-Baylor on November 1, 1980. That Baylor team featured Pro and College Football Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary. Since then, the Spartans were the road team against 33 Associated Press nationally-ranked opponents at the time of the game.

No turnovers lately: San José State enters the Boise State game playing 12 consecutive quarters, 216 offensive plays and three complete games without committing a turnover. The last time the Spartans gave away the football was on a pass interception in the fourth quarter of the October 8 loss to Hawai'i. In 2015, San José State played 13 consecutive quarters over portions of the last four regular-season games without a turnover. The last San José State team to play three consecutive games without a turnover was the 1998 Spartans. That squad beat New Mexico, lost to Virginia and defeated Rice in games three through five with no turnovers on 174 offensive plays.

Turnover info nationally: San José State's streak of three consecutive games without a turnover heading into the Boise State game is the longest active streak in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) for games played through October 29.

Western Michigan, the national leader in fewest turnovers this season with three, played its first six games of the season without a turnover. The Broncos committed its first turnover of their season in game #7 on October 15 with a fumble.

San José State stays in top-25 for turnovers gained: With Trevon Bierria's interception in the October 29 UNLV win, San José State remains in the top-25 for turnovers gained. The Spartans' are tied for 23rd among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools with 16 turnovers gained. San José State now is in its ninth week of being in the top-25 for turnovers gained. The Spartans were as high as sixth nationally following games played through September 10 and September 17.

Five different offensive line combinations in October: In each of the last five games, San Jose State started a different offensive line combination. No player started at the same position in all of the five games.

All-season starters: After nine games, only three Spartans, OL Jeremiah Kolone, RB Shane Smith and DT Owen Roberts, started in every game. Forty (40) players have at least one starting call this season. Last year, 34 Spartans started at least one game. The last time more than 40 players started at least one San José State game in a season was in 2014 when 43 players did it.

Crawley & Hartley go for 100 receiving yards: The October 29 UNLV win marked the first time since the 2013 season-ending triumph over then-undefeated and nationally-ranked #16 Fresno State that at least two Spartans had 100 or more receiving yards in a game. Senior Tim Crawley had a career-high 114 receiving yards on eight receptions. Sophomore Tre Hartley had his first 100-yard receiving game at the major college level with 104 yards and two touchdowns on five catches.

Long-gaining pair: San José State wide receivers Justin Holmes and Tre Hartley are ranked among the top-50 players in the Football Bowl Subdivision for yards per reception in games played through October 29. While there are six pairs of players from the same school in the top-50, Holmes and Hartley are one of two duos with at least 20 receptions each for a yard per catch average of 17.3 or more.

Spartans match 2015 sack total: San José State has 17 quarterback sacks after nine games equal to the number of quarterback sacks it had in its 13-game 2015 season.
