Flagstaff, Ariz.------San Jose State University divers Cari Reiswig and Kylie Fonseca concluded their season competing in the 1-meter diving event at the NCAA Zone E Championships.
Reiswig placed 17th with a 517.10 total for 12 dives. She was one of 18 qualifiers for the finals with her 15th place finish out of 51 divers in the preliminary round of six dives with a score of 258.75.
This is the second year in a row that Reiswig qualified for the 1-meter finals at the Zone E Championships. In 2016, she finished in 16th place.
Fonseca finished 40th with a score of 218.40 in the preliminary round.
"Things went pretty well today. We always have the NCAA (Championships) in our sights. We came up a little bit short," said Mark Butcher, the San Jose State diving coach. "Both Cari and Kylie did a good job of not letting the meet be too big for them."
"In a broad sense, I'm very happy with how they (Reiswig and Fonseca) did this year," concluded the Spartans diving coach. Reiswig was 21st and Fonseca, 41st, in the 3-meter event on March 6 - the first day of the NCAA Zone E Championships.
UCLA's Maria Polyakova finished first in the 1-meter with a score of 656.15.
