Men's Golf Competing at Alister MacKenzie Invitational

San Jose, Calif.--- The San José State University men's golf team will be competing at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational Monday, October 9, in Fairfax, California. The Spartans will tee off at 8:15 a.m. on the Par 71, 6,734-yard Meadow Club course.

The squad will play 54-holes over the course of two days. The team will play 36-holes on Monday, and the remaining 18 on Tuesday.

The tournament will feature a 15-team field: California, Fresno State, Harvard, Hawai'i, Minnesota, Nevada, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Diego, San Diego State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara, St. Mary's, Washington.

Competing For The Spartans: Scott Munger, Kevin Velo, Sean Yu, Ben Campbell, and Sean Talmadge

Last Time Out: The last time the Spartans competed was at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. San José State climbed the leaderboard each day to finish in seventh place shooting 14-over par on the Donald Ross Course at Cedar Rapids Country Club.

Kevin Velo shot four under par in his final round to capture the first top-5 finish of his Spartan career. The Junior finished tied in fifth place shooting five-under par 211.

Scott Munger tied for 44th at 224; Sean Talmadge tied for 51st at 225; Sean Yu tied for 60th at 227; Vijay Srinivasan tied for 73rd at 238.

Previously at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational: The men's golf team finished in 13th place last season at the tournament. Matthew Murray was the top finisher for the Spartans placing 31st at two under par with a total score of 211.

Scott Munger tied for 41st at 213; Sean Talmadge tied for 61st at 218; Kevin Velo and William Barnett both tied for 67th at 219.
