Complete NCAA West Regional Cross Country Championship Results
Seattle, Wash. - As he has in every race he has run this year, Huruy Zeratsion was the first Spartan to cross the finish line at the NCAA West Regional Cross Country Championships. He led the team to a 21st place finish on Friday.
"As we have seen all year, Huruy did a great job today," Head Coach Brad Wick said. "However, I think we did well as a team. With the exception of Huruy and Charlie (Pope), no one on our team had run in a Regional Championship before. The experience we got today will go a long way for us in the next couple of years."
Zeratsion, who was 76th in last year's Regional Championship, improved his position by seven places coming in 69th place in 31:02.9.
Pope (101st in 31:36.2) and Collin De Julio (125th in 32:14.5) were the next two Spartans to cross the finish line.
Mario Perez was 144th in 32:28.4 and rounding out the scoring, Javier Ubaldo ran a 32:38.6 and finished in 151st place. Nicholas Liebmann was 187th in 33:44.3
Portland won the team race with 63 points and three of the top-five finishers, including the race winner Emmanuel Roudolff-Levisse who clocked a 29:33.1 over the 10k course.
