Reiswig Ninth In 1-Meter Dive At Northern Arizona Lumberjack Invitational

Nov. 17, 2017

Flagstaff, Ariz.----- San Jose State University senior Cari Reiswig started the Northern Arizona Lumberjack Invitational women's diving meet with a ninth-place finish in the 1-meter dive.

Reiswig, the Spartans' school record holder in the event, posted a score of 541.05 for her 12 dives. In the qualifying round, she was 11th of 32 entrants to make the final round of 12 divers.

"With the pool unavailable to practice last night (Thursday), we came out and had some really great movement patterns today. Cari making finals and moving up two spots in the finals was an obvious high point," said San Jose State University diving coach Mark Butcher.

Senior Kylie Fonseca, sophomore Natasha Sondeno and junior Eri Tamada finished 24th, 29th and 32nd respectively, and did not advance to the finals.

"Kylie and Tasha (Sondeno) came out and made some corrections I've been asking them to make. So, it was a positive day at the pool. They are all adjusting to being at 7,000 feet and looked much more comfortable on the boards as the day went on," added the Spartans diving coach.

The three-day invitational continues on November 18 with the 3-meter event.
