Michael Carrizosa & Andre Chachere In NFLPA Collegiate Bowl All-Star Game

San Jose State University punter Michael Carrizosa and cornerback Andre Chachere will play their final game wearing a Spartan football helmet in the 2018 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl all-star game.

This year's game is Saturday, January 20, 1:00 p.m., at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. FS1 will televise the game live.

Carrizosa and Chachere will play for the National Team coached by 1975 Spartan assistant coach Mike Martz who went on to coach the St. Louis Rams for six seasons (2000-05). Carrizosa and Chachere and wear their San Jose State jersey numbers, 17 and 21, respectively.

During his Spartan career, Carrizosa became the school's first punter to finish in the top-20 nationally in three seasons and in the top-five nationally in punting more than once. Carrizosa was fifth in 2017, second in 2015 when he was a second-team All-America and a Ray Guy Award finalist and 14th in 2016. He finished his career as San Jose State leader in punting average (44.0/per punt) and punting yardage (9,907 yards). The versatile special teams player also handled kickoff duties and was the team's holder for kick scoring opportunities.

Chachere was a three-year starter as a cornerback with 32 starts. He finished his career with seven interceptions and 27 pass break-ups. Chachere was a 2016 first-team All-Mountain West selection and was named to the 2017 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award and Bronco Nagurski Trophy watch lists. Besides starting at cornerback, he was a nickel back, safety, linebacker and special teams defender during his Spartan career.

Carrizosa and Chachere are the latest San Jose State players to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. Defensive end Isaiah Irving scored a touchdown in the 2017 game, signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent, was on the team's 53-man roster and played in seven games. Cornerback Jimmy Pruitt played in the 2015 game and eventually signed a free agent contract with the New Orleans Saints.
