San Jose State University Men's Golf Faces Nevada In Match Play Dual

Feb. 18, 2018

The San Jose State University men's golf team has a rare dual match, Monday, February 19, when the Spartans take on the University of Nevada at The Ridge Golf Course in Auburn, Calif.

The two teams will play two rounds of match play golf with six golfers representing each school on the par 71 course about halfway between San Jose and Reno. It is at least 25 years since the Spartans played a dual match and it is uncertain the last time the team was involved in 18-hole match play competition.

For the Spartans, the match play dual match with Nevada is the team's second spring season event. San Jose State opened the spring tying for 12th place at the Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawaii.

San Jose State's lineup is likely to consist of Kevin Velo, Sean Yu, Sean Talmadge, Ben Campbell, Matthew Murray and Vijay Srinivasan.

Making its spring season debut, Nevada is expected to counter with Grant Booth, Joey Vrzich, Kaleb Gorbahn, Jooho Lee, Sam Harned and Stephen Osborne.
