#4-UCLA Women's Water Polo Tops #21-San Jose State, 15-4

March 18, 2018

Los Angeles, Calif.------ #4-UCLA scored the first three goals of the match and went to post a 15-4 win over #21-San Jose State University in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) women's water polo match.

For the Spartans (8-13, 0-1 MPSF), it was their fifth match in three days that included playing nine extra periods in sudden victory overtime wins over #11-LMU and #23-Marist on back-to-back days in the LMU Invitational.

"It (the outcome) was not as good as we hoped for," said San Jose State University head coach Gabor Sarusi, who still was pleased the Spartans won three out of five matches for the weekend. "We put up a good effort and tried our best, but we were tired by the last game."

Jennifer Liu led the Spartans in scoring in the UCLA match with her first two-goal match of her San Jose State career. Sheila Jensen and Lili Urvari also scored for the Spartans.

Katelynn Thomspon was credited with six saves in goal for San Jose State.

Alexis Angermund of UCLA (18-3, 1-1 MPSF) was the match's leading scorer with three goals.

San Jose State's next match is Saturday, March 24, hosting Santa Clara in the Spartans' final non-conference contest of the season at West Valley College. The match begins at noon.
