Las Vegas, Nev.—Abegail Arevalo and Natasha Andrea Oon tied for ninth place at The Rebel Beach in Las Vegas as the San José State women's golf team finished fifth in the tournament at 898.
Arevalo and Oon each shot a six-over 222 for the three rounds over Monday and Tuesday. Arevalo shot a 77 in the final round after shooting 71-74 to start the tournament. She made 13 pars during her final round but did not make a birdie. This is her fourth top-10 finish in five tournaments played this year.
Oon recorded her second top-10 finish of the year. She also shot a final-round 77 on Tuesday with two birdies and nine pars made. Oon started the tournament by shooting 72 and 73. During her second round, she made birdies and 14 pars.
Newcomer Maddie White finished tied for 16th at nine-over 225. She joined the team this spring after transferring from BYU. White opened the tournament with a one-under 71, followed by 76-78. She made eight birdies during the tournament.
Antonia Malate finished tied for 36th at 231, while Alexandra Cooper rounded out the scoring with a 238.
San José State finished fifth at 898, 20 shots behind defending national champion Arizona. UNLV finished second at 882, followed by Virginia at 892 and Oregon at 895.
The Spartans play next Monday and Tuesday at The Gold Rush held at the Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, Calif.
