Folsom, Calif.—The San José State beach volleyball team improved their record to 8-6 on Saturday on with 4-1 wins over San Francisco and Sacramento State in duals played at the Livermore Park in Folsom, Calif.
Three pairs went 2-0 on the day – Giulia Gávio and Luiza Andrade, Kaitlynn Zdroik and Thaliana Grajeda, and Julia Golbeck and Sarah Smevog. All three pairs won both of their matches in straight sets.
Caitlin Bettenay and Tabea Schwarz fell 21-19, 21-8 to the San Francisco pair, but rebounded to win 21-8 and 21-12 against the Hornets. Ryann Thomison and Fernanda Vido won against USF, 21-12 and 21-14, but fell to Sacramento State 21-12, 16-21, 15-9.
Ciara Reistad and Haylee Nelson won two exhibition matches, winning 21-9 and 21-16 against USF and 21-11, 18-21, 15-7 against the Hornets.
The Spartans compete next at Pacific on Saturday, March 23, at 11 a.m.
