Spartans Fourth, Three In Top-12 At Juli Inkster Invitational

Fairfax, Calif.—The Spartan women's golf team shot a one-under 287 in the second round of the Juli Inkster Invitational at Meadow Club Monday afternoon as San José State ended the day in fourth place. Three Spartans are in the top-12 on the individual rankings.
 
Natasha Andrea Oon is tied for sixth at one-under par 143 after shooting 72-71 on Monday. She made four birdies each round and is tied for third in the field in birdies made at eight.
 
Abegail Arevalo is tied for 10th at even-par 144. She started the day with a two-over 74, but rebounded in round two to shoot a two-under 70.  Arevalo made five birdies over the two rounds. During the second round, she was one under for the front nine with two birdies, a bogey and six pars. Over her final nine holes, she made eight pars and a birdie on #11.
 
Franziska Friedrich is tied for 12th at one-over 145, and made six birdies over the two rounds. During her second round, she started birdie-par-double bogey, but then made 12 pars over her final 15 holes with two birdies and a bogey.
 
Alexandra Cooper is tied for 27th at five-over 149, and Antonia Malate is 70th at 165.
 
Maddie White, playing as an individual, is also tied for sixth at one-under 143. She shot 71-72 for her two rounds and leads the field in birdies made with 10.
 
On a day that found three golfers shoot a 67, Harriet Allsebrook of Rutgers leads the field at seven-under 137. She shot a 67 in the first round and ended her second round by making 11 consecutive pars. The two others who shot a 67 were Corinne Viden of Sacramento State and Marianne Li of California.
 
San José State started the day with a six-over 294 and was seventh after round one. The team shot a one-under 287 in the second round to finish in fourth place and find themselves six shots behind leader Sacramento State. The top-seven teams are within 11 shots of each other.
 
Final round action begins Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
