Oon Shoots 69, Tied For Third At Silverado Showdown

Napa, Calif.—Natasha Andrea Oon shot her first 69 of her Spartan career and is tied for third after two rounds of the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa. San José State is currently fourth after two rounds at 13-over 589.

Oon is tied for third at one-under 143 after shooting her eighth under-par round of the season. She is tied with Kelly Sim of Northwestern who was the only other player to shoot in the 60s on Monday with a 68.
 
Oon started the day with a bogey on her first hole, but then made six pars and two birdies to shoot a 35 after nine holes. She then went par-birdie-birdie-par-birdie to go to four-under before a bogey on the par-four #17 found her finishing her round at three-under par. With five birdies in the second round, Oon is tied for the tournament lead in birdies made with nine.
 
Three other Spartans are in the top-30, led by Abegail Arevalo who is tie for 16th at four-over 148. She shot a three-over 75 in the second round, making two birdies, 11 pars and five bogeys. Antonia Malate is tied for 23rd at five-over 149. She shot a 78 for her round, making just one birdie. She started the day with a bogey followed by eight pars before shooting a 41 on the back nine. Maddie White is tied for 26th at six-over 150, after shooting a 79 on Monday. She finished her round strong with par-par-birdie-birdie to end the day.
 
Franziska Friedrich rounds out the Spartan team as she is tied for 54th at 154. She shot a 78 in a round that included 12 pars and six bogeys.
 
The Spartans are 13 shots behind leader Northwestern who shot a three-under 285 in the second round for a two-round total of 576. The Wildcats are 11 shots ahead of Stanford and 12 shots ahead of Southern California.
 
Final round action begins Tuesday morning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
