SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State women's swimming competed in their second event of 2020 on Friday as they took part in a pentathlon hosted by San Diego State at the Aztec Aquaplex. The Spartans competed against the Aztecs, as well as San Diego, Air Force and Incarnate Word.
The teams competed in five events with two swimmers per program swimming in each heat of the event. The events swam were multiple heats of the freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke and individual medley. The top combined individual times of each event resulted in the final tally.
Kate Hanf and Chloe Limargo each placed in the top-10 overall. Hanf placed seventh with a team-leading overall time of 5:04.03 while Limargo was not far behind with a time of 5:05.93, good for ninth place.
Antoinette Loya (12th), Gabby Heng (16th), Rebecca Petoe (20th), Makenna Mathieson (21st), Katie McIntee (23rd), Violani Auva'a (27th) and Angelika Yngson (28th) all finished in the top-30 of the field of 92 swimmers.
Loya tied for the fifth-best time in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 52.88 while Limargo led the team with a sixth-place finish in the breaststroke with a time of 1:07.38. Hanf led the squad in two races, finishing sixth in the 100 yard butterfly in 59.12 and seventh in the individual medley with a time of 1:00.82. Maddy Grimes had the team's best swim in the backstroke with a time of 1:00.01 to finish eighth.
