Three Spartans, Women's 4x100 Relay Qualify For NCAA Regionals

San José, Calif. – The list of participants for the 2021 NCAA West Regional Track and Field Championships was announced on Thursday and three members of the San José State track and field program, plus the 4x100 relay squad, have qualified for the preliminary round on May 26-29 in College Station, Texas.

Senior Daryia Greene will represent the Spartans in the women's 400m dash. The Elk Grove, Calif. native enters the meet ranked 39th in the region thanks to a school record mark of 53.54. Greene achieved that time over the weekend at the Mountain West Championships in Clovis, flying to a third-place finish in the 400.

Freshman Kyle Jankans is headed to College Station to compete in the men's high jump. Jankans is ranked No. 37, hitting a personal best 2.11m at the Fullerton Spring Invitational last month

Senior Roman Johnson has qualified in the men's 100m dash. Johnson clocked a time of 10.40 seconds and took first place at last week's Mountain West Championships.

SJSU is also sending its women's 4x100 relay team to the NCAA West Regional. The Spartans enter regionals ranked 17th after Greene, Kylia Smith, Sophie Liao and Lonsha Bradford notched a school-record time of 44.94 seconds to place third at the conference championships.

Freshman Gabby Spencer will also be making the trip to College Station as an alternate for the 4x100 team.
