COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Josè State's Jonathan Clark has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 26-May 2.
Clark, a junior right-hander from San Marcos, Calif. (Mission Hills HS), helped lead the Spartans to a dramatic victory at UC Davis last week. Behind Clark's dominant performance, SJSU opened up its three-game set against the Aggies with a 4-3 win.
"Jonathan has worked well all season and Saturday's performance was one of his best," says head coach Brad Sanfilippo. "I'm happy for him and proud of the whole team for getting a good series win on the road."
Clark notched seven strikeouts in six innings of work on the afternoon. He allowed just one earned run for the second time in his last three appearances (at Creighton).

The right-hander has been one of the nation's top strikeout pitchers over the past few weeks, tallying a total of 27 strikeouts in his last three outings.
With just one month remaining in the regular season, Clark leads the Mountain West in fewest runs allowed (12) on the year.
This marks the first weekly honor of Clark's career and the second for the Spartans this season after Trevor Ernt earned the award last week. This marks the second time in as many conference seasons that the program has earned consecutive Mountain West Pitcher of the Week awards after Andrew Mitchel and Fineas Del Bonta-Smith were honored on March 11 and March 18, 2019.
San Josè State will look to continue its winning ways when it goes for the season sweep of California on Tuesday afternoon in Berkeley. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. at Evans Diamond against the Golden Bears.
