BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Réka Kovács and Ela Freiman stood atop the podium Friday afternoon as the San José State women's swimming team competed at the CSUB Sprint Classic at the Hillman Aquatic Center in Bakersfield.
•Kovács won the 1000 freestyle race with a time of 10:24.34, while Freiman won the final race of the day, the 100 individual medley, with a time of 59.19.
•The 200 freestyle relay team of Ally Chislett, Ellie Shorten, Reagan Mathieson and Daria Cocol swam a season-best 1:39.73 to finish third.
•The 800 freestyle relay team of Zsófia Muzsnay, Kovács, Freiman and Andreea Dragoi recorded a season-best 7:38.66 to finish third.
The Spartans will compete on Saturday at the Roadrunner Invitational in Bakersfield.
