Series history: Wyoming leads the series, 7-4. Wyoming won the most recent game between these teams, a 24-9 decision on a chilly afternoon in Laramie on November 3, 2018. The Cowboys' victory ended three consecutive wins by San Jose State in the series that resumed in 2013 on a regular basis when the Spartans joined the Mountain West.
Three of the four Spartan wins in the series included a fourth-quarter comeback and all four San Jose State's victories were by seven points or less.
1992 - Joe Nedney kicks a school-record 60-yard field goal on the final play of the game for a 26-24 win in Laramie.
2013 - The Spartans overcome a 23-7 first half deficit and quarterback David Fales scores on a 1-yard run with 0:08 in the game for a 51-44 victory in San Jose.
2014 - Austin Lopez coverts a 50-yard field goal with 0:42 remaining in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 20-20 and Tyler Winston catches a 4-yard TD pass in overtime for a 27-20 triumph.
2017 - DeJon Packer's 44-yard touchdown run with 2:09 to go in the fourth quarter was the Spartans' insurance policy in a 20-17 win in CEFCU Stadium (then Spartan Stadium).
Seeking a winning streak in 2021: With four regular season games remaining, San Jose State has its fourth opportunity of the year for its first winning streak. In the three previous chances, the Spartans were the road team and lost at USC on September 4, at Western Michigan on September 25, and at Colorado State on October 9.
Second comeback win this season: San Jose State overcame a 17-3 halftime deficit in Las Vegas to post a 27-20 Mountain West v victory over UNLV. The last time the Spartans trailed by 10 or more points and won was a 17-16 victory over Fresno State after falling behind 16-3 in the first half.
The UNLV victory was San Jose State's second come-from-behind win of the season. San Jose State trailed Hawai'i, 7-0, until the 5:26 mark of the second quarter en route to a 17-13 triumph.
A season-high five quarterback sacks at UNLV: San Jose State was credited with a season-high five quarterback sacks in its UNLV win on October 21. Defensive lineman Viliami Fehoko with 2.0 sacks and lineman E.J. Ane and linebackers Jordan Cobbs and Kyle Harmon, on the final play of the game, each had their first of the season.
The last time the Spartans had at least 5.0 quarterback sacks in a game was the 2020 UNLV win when San Jose State had 7.0 sacks.
