Spartans Head To MountainView Collegiate For Weekend Tournament

The eighth-ranked San José State women's golf team travels to Arizona for the MountainView Classic at The MountainView Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz., this Friday through Sunday, March 18-20.
 
The team will play 18 holes each day, with tee times starting on Friday and Saturday at 8 a.m. PT, and a shotgun start on Sunday at 8 a.m. PT.  The par-72 course will play at 6,352 yards

The 16-team field features six teams ranked in the top-25 of the recent Golfstat rankings including three top-10 teams – No. 5 Oklahoma State; No. 6 Florida and No. 8 San José State.

San José State finished eighth at last year's tournament, and Kajsa Arwefjäll tied for fourth at five-under 211.
 
The Spartans won the 2009 team title and three players have won the individual crown – Erica Moston, 2009; Jennifer Brumbaugh, 2012; and Abegail Arevalo, 2018.
 
The Spartans are one of three teams nationwide to have three or more golfers ranked among the top-40 nationally. Top-ranked Stanford and second-ranked Oregon each have four players in the top-40. The Spartans are the only team in the country to have three players ranked in the top-40 – No. 6 – Natasha Andrea Oon; No. 23 – Arwefjäll and No. 39 – Antonia Malate.
 
San José State is back in action after winning the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational last week by one stroke over Stanford. The team shot a 10-under 854 to claim the title. Lucia Lopez Ortega finished fourth at six-under 210, while Kajsa Arwefjäll tied for fifth at three-under 213.
