SAN JOSÉ, Calif.—Haylee Nelson and Jaida Ward clinched the win over Saint Mary's Friday afternoon as the San José State beach team went 2-0 on the day with wins over San Francisco and the Gaels at Spartan Beach.

- The Spartans swept San Francisco, 5-0, to start Friday.
- Four of the five Spartan pairs swept their opponent.
- Sienna Brewster and Abby Alvarez rebounded after losing 23-21 in the first set to win 21-16 and 15-10.
- Against Saint Mary's, the team was up early after Mia Schafer and Chloe Culver won in straight sets, 21-10, 21-16.
- Letizia Cammillucci and Allison Pereira then won their match 21-15, 21-13 to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead.
- With the dual tied at 2-2, it came down to the ones match with Nelson and Ward. They won the first set 21-10 and fought back to win the second set 23-21.
San José State is now 4-9 on the season and plays two more duals on Saturday against Oregon and Sacramento State.
