BRIDGEPORT, Pa.—For the first time in school history, the San José State women's water polo team has the top team cumulative grade-point average in the country with a 3.74, as recognized by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).
The Spartans led a trio of California schools with the top grade-point averages in the country. San José State led the nation with a 3.74 gpa for the year. Pomona Pitzer and Stanford tied for second at 3.72.
Individually, a program-record 16 Spartans were recognized as being champions in the classroom by being named to the ACWPC All-Academic teams. To receive the honor, players maintained a 3.20 or higher cumulative gpa. The team had 10 players honored as Outstanding (3.71-4.00 pg), five as superior (3.41-3.70 gpa) and one as excellent (3.20-3.40 gpa).
Riley Agerbeek earned her fifth honor, while Hannah Henry, Clarissa Wandinger, Olga Descalzi and Sophie Spivack earned their fourth career honor. Lior Ben David and Bailey Stubblefield now have three honors, while Elaina Davey and Ryann Lucchesi have two honors. Reiley Burton, Cila David, Lucy Miszewski, Maiken Pardon, Lauren Woolley and Renee Fleming earned their first honor after one collegiate season.
