BATTLE OF 3-0 TEAMS THURSDAY NIGHT:  The San José State men's basketball team faces a tough test Thursday night as the 3-0 Spartans host 3-0 Hofstra inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.

San José State brings a 3-0 record into Thursday after defeating Alabama State, 70-57, Tuesday night. Omari Moore led the team in scoring with 19 points, while Alvaro Cardenas scored a career-best 17 points. Sage Tolbert III grabbed a team-best seven rebounds. The Spartans have started the season 3-0 for the first time since the 2010-11 season.

ABOUT HOFSTRA:  The Pride bring a 3-0 record to San Jose Thursday night after getting wins at Princeton (83-77) and in home games with Iona (83-78) and George Washington (85-80). Head coach Speedy Claxton is in the second season as the head coach of his alma mater and led his team to a 21-11 record last year. He starred at Hofstra from 1996 to 2000.

Series Record - This is the second meeting between the two teams. The Spartans traveled to Long Island to start the 2019-20 season and came away with a 79-71 win. Richard Washington came off the bench to lead the team with 23 points. Current Spartan Omari Moore saw seven minutes of action and was 1-for-2 from the field for two points.

  • In the win over Alabama State on November 15, Ibrahima Diallo blocked eight Hornets' shots to set a new Provident Credit Union Event Center record for a Spartan player. He broke the Spartan record of seven set by Brandon Clarke against UNLV on January 28, 2017. The Spartans were just one short of tying the team's record of nine, set in three different games. Diallo was one block short of tying the school record of nine set by Menelik Barbary against Idaho at the WAC Tournament on March 6, 2007.
