– Chevan Cordeiro found Elijah Cooks for three touchdowns and found Jackson Canaan for another to lead San José State (6-4, 4-3 MW) in a 35-31 loss at Utah State (6-5, 5-2 MW) Saturday night.

  • Cordeiro has thrown for 18 touchdowns this season which is a career-high and went 20-for-30 for 257 yards in the loss.
  • Cordeiro has the most passing touchdowns for the Spartans since Josh Love had 22 in 2019.
  • Cordeiro had no interceptions and only has three on the season.
  • Cooks now has eight touchdowns on the season and it was his first multi-touchdown game of the year while his eight touchdowns tie a career high.
  • It was the first three receiving touchdown game since Chandler Jones caught three touchdowns against Fresno State on Nov. 29, 2013.
  • Cooks ended the night with seven catches for 125 yards and his three touchdowns in a game is a career high.
  • Jackson Canaan caught his first career touchdown and had three catches.
  • Justin Lockhart had six catches for 87 yards.
  • Tre Jenkins had his second interception of the season and first fumble recovery of the season.
  • Chase Williams had his second pick of the season.
  • The Spartans are +13 on the season when it comes to turnovers.
  • This was the Spartans fifth game not turning the ball over and third where they had three takeaways.
  • Cade Hall had one sack, two tackle for losses and a forced fumble.
  • Kyle Harmon had 14 tackles and is one short in tying Carl Ekern for fourth all-time at 429 tackles.
  • Bryun Parham had a career-high 14 tackles and also had a sack and a tackle for loss.
  • Marcel Sanders had his first career forced fumble.
  • Taren Schive hit a 41-yard field goal and has 10 now for his career.
  • The Spartans came back from a 21-6 deficit to take a late 31-28 lead.
