HONOLULU - Olga Descalzi scored seven goals to lead No. 13 San José State over No.25 Marist College 17-11 in their second match of the day, while Lucy Miszewski scored two goals to lead the Spartans in a 12-5 loss to No.6 Hawaii in their first match. The Spartans scored a total of 22 goals to go 1-1 in their two match season opener at the Hawaii Invitational.
Match One (Hawaii):
- Kielle Leggo, Renee Fleming, and Lior Ben David also scored.
- Descalzi and Genevieve Larkin each had one assist.
- Goalkeeper Hannah Henry recorded nine saves throughout the game.
Match Two (Marist):
- Clarissa Wandinger scored the first goal of the match and two goals total.
- Sinia Plotz, Kylee Jansen, Bailey Stubblefield, Ryann Lucchesi, and Miszewski all scored in the second match.
- Leggo recorded a match high of three assists.
- The Spartans had the highest scoring quarter in the first netting six goals during the period.
- The match marked the first win of the season for the Spartans.
