Spartans Compete Hard in Final Day of Cal Cup

BERKELEY, Calif. - Goalkeeper Hannah Henry scored a goal and recorded 10 saves in the No.14 Spartans (2-5) 12-8 loss to No.11 UC Davis (1-2), while Lior Ben David contributed two goals and an assist to lead the Spartans in their 7-9 loss to No.9 Fresno State (2-4). 

Match One (UC Davis): 

  • Olga Descalzi also scored two goals, while Clarissa Wandinger, Sinia Plotz, Kylee Jansen, and Henry contributed one goal each. 
  • Wandinger led the team in drawn exclusions giving the Spartans six power play opportunities. 
  •  SJSU tallied 21 goals against four nationally ranked teams this weekend.   


Match Two (Fresno State):

  • Maiken Pardon, Plotz, Wandinger and Jansen also scored during the match.
  • Henry recorded 9 saves with a .591 save percentage. 
  • Descalzi, and Plotz each contributed an assist. 

UP NEXT: The Spartans will head to Palo Alto, Calif. for the Stanford invitational, Feb. 5.
