SAN JOSE, Calif. - Bence Szabo scored two goals and drew six exclusions to lead the No. 13 San José State men's water polo (4-5) team in their 12-7 win against No. 16 Santa Clara (9-8).
- Mark Kis put the Spartans on the board a minute into the first quarter with an assist from Mateja Bosic.
- Five Spartans scored to give SJSU the 7-5 lead over the Broncos going into the half.
- Bosic won the sprint all four quarters to give SJSU starting possession of the ball.
- Maro Tiozzo, Nikola Nikolic, Laszlo Szieben, Nikki Matheisen, Gal Haimovich, and Bosic also scored.
- Brendon Gyapjas was on fire recording 12 saves, one steal, and one assist on the afternoon.
- Connor Macmillan led the team in steals, tallying two.
- This is the first league match the Spartans have won since 2021.
