No. 8 Spartans Fall To No. 1 USC In First Round Of NCAA Championship

LOS ANGELES - Manteja Bosic scored three goals and had two assists to lead the No. 8 San José State men's water polo team (13-10) in the 18 - 10 loss to No. 1 USC (16-6) in the first round of the NCAA Championship. 

  • Gal Haimovich put the Spartans on the board at 5:22 of the first quarter to make the score 1-0.
  • Mark Kis scored the second goal of the game with an assist from Bosic to make the score 2-0. 
  • Kis put three points on the board to record a hat trick during the match. 
  • Laszlo Szieben, Nikki Matheisen, and Mitchell Keightley also scored. 
  • The score was tied 3-3 at the end of the first quarter. The Spartans trailed the Trojans 9-5 at halftime. 
  • Bence Szabo drew five exclusions to give the Spartans multiple power play opportunities. 
  • Goalkeeper Brendon Gyapjas recorded eight saves throughout the match.
